Distance calculator
How far apart are two places?
Calculate the straight-line, great-circle distance between two coordinate pairs.
What this distance means
The calculation uses the haversine formula and a mean Earth radius of 6,371 kilometres. It estimates the shortest path along a spherical Earth between your points.
It is not a driving route, walking route or journey time. Roads, terrain and the Earth’s ellipsoidal shape can produce different results. For example, London (51.5074, −0.1278) to Paris (48.8566, 2.3522) is approximately 344 km by this method.
