How to Enable Location Access
When you press Find my location, your browser asks whether this website may access your device location. Allowing the request lets the tool read a coordinate pair and an accuracy estimate. You can use our manual coordinate tools even if you decline.
Start with the website permission
- Open the website over HTTPS. A secure connection is needed for browser geolocation.
- Press Find my location. Choose Allow in the permission prompt.
- If you previously blocked access, open the site information or permissions control beside the address bar. Look for Location and allow it for this website.
- Reload the page and try the button again.
The exact names and placement of settings vary by browser version. Look for site permissions rather than changing permissions for every website.
Check your device settings too
A browser permission cannot override a device-wide block. On a phone, check that Location Services is enabled and that your browser has permission to use it. On a computer, check the operating system's location settings and any browser restrictions.
If your phone offers an approximate or precise location choice, precise access may improve the coordinate result. Only enable it if you are comfortable sharing that detail with the services described in our privacy policy.
If the prompt never appears
A previously saved decision, a managed work device or an embedded browsing window may prevent a new prompt. Try opening the page in your usual browser. Check saved permissions and make sure your browser is up to date. A company or school administrator may control the setting.
Changing your mind
Use Clear location to remove the displayed result from this page. To stop future location requests, revoke the website's location permission in your browser. Clearing the display does not retract information already sent to a map service or another person.
What to try next
If permission is allowed but the position is inaccurate, move near a window or outdoors and request a fresh position. See our location accuracy guide for more troubleshooting steps.
